I learned to paint by being immersed in art for most of my life.  My father taught art at the college level for over three decades and continues  his passion in his retirement.

I received a Bachelors degree from SUNY Brockport and later a Master’s degree from Duquesne University.  Through six years of higher education I studied a variety of subjects, but as fate would have it I entered the workforce selling art supplies.

In 1996 my soon to be wife Eileen and I moved to Raleigh, NC and I began working at Jerry’s Artarama. Initially I began working on catalogs and advertisements and saw the company grow leaps and bounds.  I quickly began wearing different hats and and grew into the position of Marketing Director.

Through my life’s journey in my father’s studio and my professional career at Jerry’s Artarama I learned countless things about art theories, techniques, principles and practices. My never ending pursuit is putting these ideas onto canvas.

I love Art in all of its forms.   Painting has opened up a whole new world and helps to me to see things that might have always been there, but I just never bothered to look at them.

Statement
My paintings are centered on conceptualization evolving over time.  For that reason it is important for me to devote equal or more time to each painting I do.  Although my skills as an artist increase with each work, my creativity is also expanding.  Therefore I must concentrate on painting longer so to accommodate for new ideas.

My style of painting involves creating a complicated background of hundreds of grids of varying colors.  When done the background will loosely look the intended composition, From there I concentrate on adding detail to segments of the painting.  This method allows me the most expression because different parts are all done at different times.  For example a typical landscape composition might have twenty different trees.  Painting all the trees during the same session will tend to create too many similarities and thus a boring composition.  Patience and time allows my paintings to reflect my varying emotions and moods and in a strange way create a sense of balance and harmony in what are sometimes very detailed and confusing compositions.
